What's My Purpose?
The coronavirus pandemic of 2020 caused worldwide disruption of what we considered normal. During the various shutdowns, we came face to face with the realization that things would never be as they were before. Shopping habits and social gatherings affected businesses everywhere.
Employers and employees had to reevaluate how to conduct business now and in the future. In the United States, some employees were forced to leave their jobs. Others decided to leave on their own. So many left their jobs within six months, Anthony Klotz, a psychologist and professor at Texas A&M University, came up with the term "Great Resignation."
The pandemic caused people to stop and rethink their lives. People are looking for their purpose. Of course, this search didn't begin with the pandemic, but it pushed people who had time on their hands to try something else.
WHAT'S MY PURPOSE? THE SEARCH IS ON
So, what's the first step? What do I do now? These are questions all of us have asked ourselves as we search for our purpose. We work jobs or start businesses and do great things, but we are still not fulfilled. It's as if something is missing.
In the Bible, Psalms 37:4 (AMPC) states, "Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart." God has given us all a purpose. Our accomplishments mean nothing to God without purpose. God created us in His image to fellowship with us. He gave us dominion in the earth to tell others about Him so they can have a spiritual relationship with Him as well.
